Femen activists and members of the 'Movement for the Liberation of Women' (MLF) group joined forces to protest against the Dominique Strauss-Kahn verdict outside the National Assembly in Paris on Friday. A French court cleared Strauss-Kahn, a former head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), of "aggravated pimping," reasoning that the former French presidential hopeful did not profit from the prostitution of seven women. Strauss-Kahn says he was unaware that the women partaking in the same orgies as he were prostitutes, thinking that they were merely co-swingers. A law penalizing prostitutes' clients was passed the same day as Strauss-Kahn was acquitted. Femen and MLF were also protesting outside the National Assembly to demand the abolition of prostitution. One protester complained about the former IMF leader going unpunished while "the prostitutes remain the subject of guilt."
