Prime Minister of India Nardendra Modi gave a speech to more than 50,000 people in the Dubai Cricket Stadium on Monday, during an historic visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The "Marhaba Namo" (Grand Reception), as the ceremony has been called, began with a traditional music and dance performance. Afterwards, Modi addressed the Indian diaspora living in Dubai, who offered their support and approval to the Indian leader through loud applause. Modi arrived in Dubai on Sunday on a two-day visit. It is the first time an Indian prime minister has visited the country since Indira Gandhi in 1981. Modi's visit coincides with UAE authorities giving the go ahead to build the first ever Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. With an estimated population of more than 2.6 million, Indian nationals make up the largest national group in the UAE, whose own citizens make up just 10% of the population.
