Up to 6,000 Syrian internally-displaced refugees are currently living in a football stadium in Latakia. The camp is maintained and financed in a joint venture by the Syrian government and aid agencies. What should have been a place for recreation, has been by necessity turned into a camp providing essential facilities to its inhabitants. Tents were erected around the stadium, with more people living inside the building, where a make-shift canteen provides breakfast, lunch and dinner to the thousands that rely on it. Most of those living at the camp are women and children, the small amount of men who live there have mostly been provided with jobs in Latakia.
