Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) leaders held an extended-format meeting in Burabay, Thursday following a CIS Council of Heads of States narrow format meeting behind closed doors. A representative from Ukraine - charge d'affaires in Kazakhstan Yurii Lazebnik - also took part in the meeting. CIS leaders signed 16 documents including agreements on military cooperation and joint efforts against international "terrorism." Moreover, CIS presidents appointed a head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center and a head of the Coordinating Committee for Air Defence under the CIS. The participating heads of states also discussed draft documents for the United Nations' 70th anniversary. A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is also due to be held as part of the summit.
