Activists Halt Construction At Site of University Animal Research Lab

Two activists climbed atop an excavator on Monday, one locking himself to the equipment, in a protest over the building of an animal-testing facility at the University of Washington.
Police and sympathizers stated their efforts have halted construction at the site.
According to a website tracking opposition to the proposed Animal Research and Care Facility, one activist is "currently locked to the hydraulic lift at the top of the piece of heavy equipment."
The individual is holding a sign reading, "you will not build this lab."
The Seattle university's Board of Regents unanimously approved the new multi-species Animal Research and Care Facility in November 2013 with plans to open for the Fall 2017 semester.
