Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir defied a court order to remain in South Africa on Monday, returning home to Sudan's capital of Khartoum. Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for allegedly committing crimes against humanity and genocide in the Darfur region, was ordered by a judge to remain in Johannesburg during the final day of the Africa Union leaders' summit, which he was attending. Bashir was instructed to remain in the city until the court decided whether to arrest him over the war crime charges. The Sudanese leader was greeted on arrival by his colleagues, journalists, photographers and a crowd of supporters waving Sudanese flags.
