UK: Activists protest outside European Custody and Detention Summit

Dozens of activists wore handcuffs and carried signs in a demonstration against the European Custody and Detention Summit outside the Tower of London, in the British capital on Tuesday. Security companies, prison builders and arms companies were meeting at the summit to discuss new security techniques.
One activist member said, "Today, there is a conference called the European Custody and Detention Summit, which pretends to be a progressive prison reform based conference, but in fact it's a trade fair, where companies that profit from technologies used in prisons, in border control and other forms of punishment are here to present their "solutions" to criminal problems and policy makers."
The protesters stated that their demonstration will continue in front of the conferences for the next two days.
