A breathtaking 'blood moon' shone bright over Munich during a partial lunar eclipse on Tuesday night, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the start of Apollo 11th's historic moon landing.
Planes could be seen flying through the sky with the eerily beautiful moon as a backdrop.
The celestial event, which was most visible in southern Germany, began at 22:00 local time (20:00 GMT) and reached its maximum around 23:30 (21:30 GMT).
The moon passed behind the earth and into its shadow, appearing to be a red colour - hence the 'blood moon' tag.
The partial eclipse was visible over Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and South America.
The event occurs on the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's launch. The voyage ended four days later when US astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to step on to the Moon's surface.
