Russia: Hundreds bid farewell to Soviet-era 'Sunshine Clown' Popov

Hundreds of mourners lined up the streets outside Rostov-on-Don's state circus on Monday, to pay their respects to beloved Soviet-era clown and cultural icon Oleg Popov, who died aged 86 on November 2.
Popov became internationally renowned in his field during 1950s while touring Asia and North America, as well as habving a starring in several films. He was part of the first foreign performance by a Soviet circus tour of Western Europe in 1956. Furhtermore, he was mostly known for his character 'The Sunshine Clown' and in 1969 was awarded People's Artist of the USSR .
The favourite of audiences, Popov will be buried dressed in his clown suit, according to his will, in in the Bavarian town of Egloffstein, Germany, where he lived with his wife Gabriela for the last 25 years.
