Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the side-lines of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2015 (SPIEF), Thursday. Putin told the IAEA head that Russia was actively working with the agency and that the state atomic energy corporation Rosatom had a very serious package of orders for the next 10 years. Putin went on to say that Russia took a solid 40 percent of the total market in enriching, but strictly adhered to all issues related to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and would continue to work closely with Amano’s agency. The Russian leader met with several foreign diplomats in St. Petersburg on Thursday, including the Saudi Defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud and Zhang Gaoli, Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China. They are among a host of government figures, business people, academics, and media personalities who have come to take part in the event. Since SPIEF was founded in 1997, it has proven to be one of the most important economic gatherings hosted by Russia, aiming to offer an open platform to discuss economic issues in relation to the Russian market. The forum runs until June 20.
