At least 60 protesters were arrested for blocking Yerevan's streets on Friday, as mass protests against former President Serzh Sargsyan's appointment as the country's prime minister continue.
Thousands have been rallying in Yerevan since last week, after the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) nominated Sargsyan for the post of prime minister. Armenian Parliament elected the ex-president as the head of the government on Tuesday.
After his appointment, thousands have demonstrated daily outside several government offices in the capital, while more than 100 protesters have been arrested this week alone.
The leader of the opposition movement Armenia's Civil Contract Nikol Pashinyan has reportedly declared the start of a national 'non-violent Velvet Revolution.'
On Friday he called for the protesters to block Yerevan's traffic in opposition of Sargsyan's election.
