One person reportedly died as a protest escalated in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince on Monday, over fuel shortages in the country.
People were seen barricading streets and setting tyres alight during the protest. One demonstrator said, "We have the right to assert our rights. The police have no reason to prevent us from demonstrating or killing us. We will keep blocking the street until [Haitian President Jovenel Moise] Jovenel resigns."
The protest comes as Haiti faces fuel shortages following the government's failure to pay some $100 (€90.8 million) to fuel suppliers.
Haiti has been gripped by the fuel crisis since the last year's collapse of the PetroCaribe agreement with Venezuela, which allowed Haiti along with other Caribbean countries to purchase subsidised fuel.
