The 83rd anniversary of the Indian Air Force was celebrated at the Air Force Station of Hindon in the Indian state of Ghaziabad, Thursday, during which the Indian Air Forces Chief announced that women pilots will soon fly fighter jets. The Indian Air Force celebration included a military parade attended by the Army Chief General Dalbir Singh and Chief of Naval Staff R K Dhow. The AKASH Ganga sky diving team were dropped from an AN-32 aircraft at the beginning of the show as a number of different aircraft, including a Boeing C-17 and three C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft impressed the hundreds of attendees. During the ceremony former Cricketer Sachin Tendulka became the first sportsperson to be made an honorary Group Captain in the Indian Air Force.
