13.08.2018
Black Lives Matter activists held a march in Washington D.C. on Sunday, one year on from the far-right 'Unite the Right' rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which a counter protester was killed.
The Alt-Right 'Unite the Right 2' rally also took place in the US capital, with several counter-protests opposing the rally.
The 2017 Charlottesville 'Unite the Right' rally was marred after a Nazism sympathiser, James Alex Fields Jr, drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injuring more than a dozen others. Fields was charged with second degree murder for Heyer's death along with 30 charges of hate crime. His trial is set to begin in November.
