The return of Ukrainian captives convicted in Russia or detained in the Donbass territories is the "first priority," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during an interview in Kiev on Sunday.
"Returning the captives, both those who are illegally convicted in the Russian Federation and those who are in the occupied territories, is the first priority," the Ukrainian president stated. "According to a preliminary agreement we can expect [Gennady] Afanasiev and [Yuri] Soloshenko to return to their homes," he added in direct reference to two Ukrainian captives convicted of terrorism and spying in Russia.
He went on to say that "negotiations are ongoing, all resources are involved, starting with our delegation in the trilateral contact group and all its participants, as well as Normandy talks, to bring back another 25 Ukrainians who are now in the occupied territory."
