Mexico: 'Drug smuggling tunnel' discovered in Tijuana, near San Diego border

A tunnel has been discovered in a house in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, Wednesday, with the alleged aim of smuggling drugs into the United States. The tunnel was located only two blocks away from the federal police offices in Tijuana and close to a Mexican air force installation, as well as close to the Mexican-US border at San Diego, California. The tunnel, equipped with electric and ventilation systems, was still being constructed and extended 150 metres (492 feet) from the house. According to US authorities, nine people were arrested at the House in Tijuana when 20 kg (44 lbs) of marijuana was seized.
