Turkey: Police clash with health workers union as they protest dismissals

Police dispersed Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) members with tear gas as they protested against dismissals of the health workers in front of its office in Ankara on Thursday.
A huge number of police officers were deployed to secure the protest. The protesters planned to march to the Ministry of Health, but police blocked the march and scuffles erupted. The riot police used tear gas and reportedly five people were detained.
Members of other trade unions and democratic organisation visited the headquarters after the incident to show solidarity.
