SOT, Michel Lalande, Prefect of Nord department (French): "At ten o'clock in the morning, 369 people evacuated, left Grande-Synthe aboard a dozen buses to reach reception centres spread over the national territory, rather north of the Loire. And there are about 500 remaining who will leave in the next few hours."

Some 1,000 migrants were evacuated by the police from a camp in Grande-Synthe, in the north of France, on Tuesday.
The migrants, mainly Iraqi Kurds, were living inside and outside a gym that was made available for them last December.
Footage shows migrants with their bags, getting ready to climb on the buses that will drive them to "reception centres spread over the national territory," according to Michel Lalande, prefect of Nord. He added that they will be able to apply for asylum.
The Mayor of Grande-Synthe, Martial Beyaert, said that the dismantling of the migrant camp was "planned and necessary."
"It is a gym where there were 250 people inside and where there were more than a thousand people on the outskirts, who clearly lived in completely undignified conditions," he stated.
The evacuation of the migrants was ordered by a court on September 4, reportedly following local complaints.
