Footage from the Russian Defence Ministry shows a number of Sukhoi Su-24M, Su-27 and Su-34 jet aircraft landing and taking off at Hmeymim Air Base near Latakia, Saturday. The Russian Air Force is continuing to carry out strikes against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) targets, the Defence Ministry said in a statement. Hmeymim is home to Su-24, Su-24M, Su-25, Su-27 and Su-34 Russian Air Force jets. The Russian air group began conducting airstrikes on September 30, and has already carried out just over 669 flights and destroyed at least 450 targets, the Defence Ministry says. The Syrian Arab Army launched a successful attack on opposition positions on the outskirts of Homs on Friday, forcing militant groups to retreat and allowing forces loyal to Damascus to re-take the area.
