A landslip caused significant damage to a road connecting the remote Amazonas region with the rest of Peru on Friday.
Images from the site near Naranjos Alto, Utcubamba Province, on Saturday show cracks in the asphalt and whole sections of the road resting on mounds of earth.
A 1.5km-stretch (1 mile) of road was damaged, according to the National Institute for Civil Defence (INDECI).
No casualties were reported, although four houses are now inhabitable. Traffic has since been restored after a clean-up operation from the local authorities. Electrical lines were also temporarily down.
Researchers from the Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute (INGEMET) were sent to the area to carry out a study and determine the causes of the incident.
