A suspect dressed in a panda jumpsuit was shot by police after he threatened to blow up the Fox 45 TV station in Baltimore, Thursday.
Police were called to the scene after receiving reports that a man had set fire to a car in the parking area of building before entering the lobby with what appeared to be an explosive belt strapped to his chest. After police arrived the suspect refused to comply with officers' orders and was shot three times. After approaching the suspect with a robot, police established that the bomb was a hoax device, made from wires and chocolate bars wrapped in foil. The suspect's injuries do not appear to be fatal at this stage.
Commenting on the incident, Baltimore Police Department's director of media relations T.J. Smith said: "It was about 1:20 in the afternoon that we got a call about a person in the lobby. This person had on some sort of outfit, he had a surgical-style mask or something over his face. He made some suggestions to a person that he encountered. The person that he encountered wasn't actually an employee of Fox 45, it was a contractor servicing the business for something else. He said something to him and then displayed what appeared to be wires and some other things inside of his jacket that appeared to be something like an explosive device. Outside of the building a vehicle was set on fire."
