East Jerusalem: Funeral held for Palestinian killed in clashes over Temple Mount security

21.07.2017
The body of one of the three Palestinian protesters killed during clashes in and around East Jerusalem, Friday, was buried at Mount At-Tur on the same day, as protests continue to rage against strict security measures introduced at the Temple Mount.
Abu Ganam’s body was carried through the cemetery after he died earlier in the day during the violence in East Jerusalem, just hours after Israeli police announced Muslim men under the age of 50 would not be permitted to enter the al-Asqa Mosque compound.
The ruling to block Muslim men under 50 from the holy site follows protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to install turnstiles, metal detectors and security cameras around the al-Asqa Mosque. The measures were passed following a deadly shootout last Friday, which left three Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers dead.
