Latvia: Russian ambassador commemorates concentration camp victims

Russian ambassador to Latvia Alexander Vishnyakov laid a wreath at the site of the former Nazi-run Salaspils Concentration Camp near Riga, Saturday. The commemoration was part of the International Day of the Liberation of Nazi concentration camps. A minute's silence was held to remember the victims of the camp. World War II veterans also attended the ceremony alongside diplomats from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The memorial event took place near the Salaspils Memorial Complex, installed in memory of victims of fascism. This monument was opened in 1967.
