You know, the ability that I have, this is not my own, God gave me this ability to continue and make it for a purpose. And I believe that I'm here to inspire fans, inspire people, being a role model for everyone as a follower of God, of the Lord Jesus Christ."

SOT, Keith Thurman, US Professional Boxer: "Though he knocked me down, I didn't care I wanted to be in his face. I felt like he was getting a little bit tired in the later rounds, but he does train hard, you know he trains hard, he kept his hands up, he's been in so many wars that now he knows what not to do."

SOT, Keith Thurman, US Professional Boxer: "I just really feel like and in retrospect that I fell short on the number game, you know. A little bit of the defence, due to the knock-down in the first round, he really did capitalise on just springing at me while I was moving backwards. I could of utilised more head movement when I was juking and jiving I was confusing Pacquiao pretty well in there. I know I have the skills to be victorious in the ring but obviously twenty-two months out of the game..."

Filipino boxer and senator Manny Pacquiao beat WBA (Super) welterweight champion Keith Thurman over a 12-round bout in Las Vegas on Saturday, to win the title and become the oldest champion in that weight class to date.
"What we did in the ring tonight, my opponent [was] very tough and also strong. [It is] the first time I encounter a heavy handed opponent like Keith Thurman," Pacquiao said at a press conference following the match.
The 40-year-old Filipino boxer floored his younger American opponent in the first round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, before dominating the rest of the bout.
Thurman said that it was "a great night of boxing" and acknowledged Pacquiao was a great champion.
"I felt like he was getting a little bit tired in the later rounds, but he does train hard, he's been in so many wars that now he knows what not to do", said the American, who was looking for his 30th straight win.
