Russia: Naryshkin praises Egypt's security efforts during meeting with el-Sisi

Russian State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Moscow on Tuesday. El-Sisi stated that "Egypt experienced great difficulties in the last two years" including terrorism among others, however "the will of the Egyptian people has helped to overcome these difficulties," he added. Naryshkin praised Egypt for its "stabilizing role" in the Middle East that needs to be maintained and strengthened, the parliamentarian added. Concluding his statement Naryshkin noted that he is ready to ring in a new phase of parliamentary cooperation between Russia and Egypt during his next visit to the Middle East by the end of the year. During his three-day visit to Russia, El-Sisi is also expected to meet President Vladimir Putin in order to sign a number of agreements on political, economic and military partnership between the two countries. The agenda of the meeting includes the proposed construction of two nuclear power stations in Egypt, among other issues. After his tete-a-tete with the Russian president, the Egyptian leader will set off for a tour through Asia.
