Firefighters and emergency services attempted to tackle a blaze on a busy east London street in Hackney, Monday, that left one man injured and thick black smoke visible for miles around. The London Fire Brigade said that 10 fire engines and 72 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze on Yorkton Street at around 13:00 local time (12:00 GMT). The injured man was taken to Royal London Hospital, where he was treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Residents have been advised to close all windows and doors due to the thick smoke. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
