Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia and Israel would cooperate economically as well as in the fight against terrorism, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow, Tuesday.
Putin stated that Russia would continue "to strengthen contacts with Israeli partners in this field", as Israel experienced it first-hand". He added that in this topic, Russia and Israel are "are indisputable allies".
Putin also commented on export routes under the Black Sea, saying that "there are known difficulties of a political nature caused by Turkey". He stated that there is "still hope as Russia hasn’t completely declined any of the projects: neither South Stream, nor Turkish Stream". According to Putin, the situation depends on the European Commission, with Russia needing "clear, understandable and definitively comprehensible position from the European Union."
Netanyahu praised Israel’s ties with Russia, saying they show "profound, close relations between our countries". He said that was based on "your positive reply to my request and the request of the Head of the General Staff of the Israeli Army to return the tank, involved in the famous battle in Sultan Yaqub".
Netanyahu arrived in Moscow on Monday on a two-day visit, his second this year.
