Top diplomats from the US, the UK, France and Germany, alongside Russian and Chinese officials and European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, held talks in Vienna, Thursday, in an attempt to reach a deal over Iran's nuclear programme. After the meeting, US Secretary of State John Kerry met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif for bilateral talks. Earlier on Thursday Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, and the US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz met to resolve differences on technical issues. Negotiators from Russia, China, France, the UK, the US, Germany and Iran re-convened in Vienna last week to try and reach a final agreement on a nuclear deal. Following a week of talks, the initial deadline of June 30 was shelved and all parties agreed a new one of July 7. As the negotiators acknowledged that they would still not be able to find a deadline on Tuesday, they agreed to extend it through until Friday, July 10.
