Former President of the USA Jimmy Carter spoke about his fight with cancer and how the disease is affecting his body during a press conference in the Carter Center headquarters in Atlanta, Thursday. Carter explained how doctors found four spots of melanoma affecting his brain during an MRI scan. The news follows doctors successfully treating Carter for cancer of the liver earlier in August, when specialists expressed concern over the cancer spreading to the liver from elsewhere in the body. He is now expected to receive targeted radiation on the brain as well as continue using a new, cutting-edge cancer drug called Keytruda. Despite the 90-year-old's ill-health, Carter announced that he will "try" his "best to continue work" as a professor at Emory University in Seattle, but added that his plans "will be determined by consultations with doctors" and his ongoing battle and treatment. James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 and was born in the southeastern state of Georgia on October 1, 1924. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the Carter Center.
