Russian Strategic Missile Forces tested an advanced stationary robot system called the Guard Robot, with the Russian Ministry of Defence releasing footage, Friday, showing the complex being tested in the Kaluga Region.
The device is intended to make illegal border crossings completely impossible to almost anyone or anything including small UAVs [Unmanned Aerial Vehicle]. According to the engineers, the turret-like robot can detect a car from ten kilometres away and a human from a distance of seven kilometres. It can be equipped with machine guns and grenade launchers in order to provide accurate fire 400 m (1,312ft) away from the target. Less than 30 seconds is needed to put the device on alert.
Originally the complex was developed by engineers at the Chelyabinsk Polyot design bureau which is a part of Rostec’s United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation.
