Ricardo Lewandowski, President of the Brazilian Supreme Court (Portuguese): "Silence, I ask all to keep the order, please. Silence."
Gleisi Hoffmann, Brazilian Senator for Workers' Party (Portuguese): "What's this? You are. You are from enslaved workers."
Ricardo Lewandovski, President of the Brazilian Supreme Court (Portuguese): "The session is supended for five minutes."

President of the Brazilian Supreme Court Ricardo Lewandovski was forced to suspend the first session of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff's impeachment trial at the Brazilian Senate on Thursday, following heated exchanges between Gleisi Hoffman, Senator for the Workers' Party (PT) and representatives of the Social Democracy Party (PSDB).
Hoffmann said the "Republican Senate has no moral authority to judge the President," at one point retorting "you are from enslaved workers" to her hecklers.
Hoffman called the process a "conspiracy" that must be "denounced". The Brazilian Senator for PSDB Cassio Lima accused Rousseff's defence team of failing to "present a defence, only excuses," a statement Rousseff's lawyer, Jose Cardoso, hit back as "not in line with reality."
The impeachment process for Rousseff got underway following a Senate vote on May 12. Rousseff faces charges that her administration broke government budget laws in order to support her re-election in 2014. Brazilian Vice President Michel Temer has assumed the role of acting president in the interim.
