Опечалени хора полагат цветя на мястото на стрелбата в Чарлстон

Mourners gathered outside the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, Friday, to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in Wednesday's fatal shooting that left nine dead. People laid flowers at the entrance of the church and many gathered to say prayers and comfort one another. There was a visible police presence in the area with a cordon still in place around the church preventing anyone from entering the building. Earlier on Friday, twenty-one-year-old suspect Dylann Roof attended court where he faced nine charges of murder and one charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Roof reportedly sat for one hour of a Bible study class at the Emanuel AME Church, before shooting nine churchgoers on Wednesday evening. In court the suspect only spoke via video link when the judge asked him a question and otherwise remained silent for the rest of the hearing. Relatives of the victims addressed Roof one by one personally, some saying they had forgiven him for what he has done. His bail has been set at $1 million (€879,000).
