06.10.2016
Several dozen businessmen and officials gathered for the sixth German-Russian entrepreneurial congress at the Hotel de Rome in Berlin, Thursday.
Klaus von Dohnanyi, the President of the advisory council of the organising Wegweiser Media & Conferences organisation, referred in his opening speech to recent tensions between the US and Russia by saying that "it is very dangerous to abort talks. One must talk to another in order to understand each other."
In turn, Russian ambassador to Germany Vladimir Grinin stated that "The popular opinion that Russia turned away from Europe is totally wrong. I would like to say again - we have been open and stay open for all the sides."
Despite the disagreements, Grinin hailed the links between Russian and German businesses, saying that "In 2017, 23 percent of German companies working in Russia will continue to develop existing, or build new, businesses."
