28.09.2016
Protesters from several workers’ unions demonstrated against the Greek government’s plan to move control of public utilities to a new asset fund formed by international creditors, in Athens, Tuesday.
Members from public sector unions Civil Servants' Confederation (ADEDY ), electrical company DEH and Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP) joined forces in the protest.
One protester, Giota Stathis, stressed that the unions are protesting against the bill because "This is the policy of the European Union, that is actually being developed and it is being applied all over Europe for many, many, many years."
Inside parliament the debate on the law was underway. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ government has to agree on the bill before receiving additional rescue loan funds from other eurozone countries.
