Protesters gathered near Skopje's government building, Friday before marching towards the Ministry of Justice, where riot police blocked their path, and then on to the 'Braka Miladinovci' library, where protesters listened to speakers. The library was where police barged in and arrested several students, allegedly using excessive force, charging them with accessory to violence on May 5. On May 5 a spontaneous protest saw thousands descend on the Macedonian Parliament after opposition leader Zoran Zaev accused the country’s leadership of covering up the 2011 police killing of 21-year-old Martin Neskovski. Neskovski was filmed being beaten to death by police during the election victory celebrations in Skopje, for the political party VMRO-DPMNE. A protest is being held on Saturday in honour of Neskovski.
