Have Obama and Netanyahu Usurped US and Israeli Diplomatic Relations?

These are turbulent times for the relationship between Israel and its closest ally, the US.
In part, it is due to the lack of chemistry between the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the US President, Barack Obama.
A key indicator to the shift in diplomatic discourse has been a tale of two nations with opposing polarization.
Under the Obama administration, the United States has shifted to the left, while Netanyahu has heralded a hard-line right-wing zeitgeist for Israel.
But there has been another significant shift too. In the process, Israel has, to an extent, become a party political issue in Washington.
Their difficult relationship soured further when Netanyahu lobbied against nuclear negotiations with Tehran on the Congress floor.
Republican Party leadership invited the Prime Minister for the joint address.
