16.09.2016
Russian President Putin said the information released by hackers that accessed the WADA database "cannot but be of interest to the international public," during the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Bishkek on Friday. Putin noted that "very many questions arise" but Russia did not support hackers' activity.
The Russian leader claimed that "healthy athletes legally take medications outlawed for others." He described as "beyond comprehension" that "people, who obviously suffer from grave illnesses and disabilities, are barred from participation in the Paralympic Games on sheer suspicion."
A group of hackers calling themselves 'Fancy Bear' released test results of 25 athletes from the US, Germany, UK, Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, Romania and Russia. The tests show that the athletes applied and were granted dispensation to take treatments, including the use of the some drugs that were proscribed by WADA.
