Queen Elizabeth Gives Prince Harry a Knighthood

The Queen has rewarded Prince Harry for his impressive performances representing her on the world stage by giving him a knighthood. Her Majesty appointed her grandson as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order during a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where no cameras were present. The honor is in the personal gift of the Sovereign, who does not announce the reasons for it being conferred, but the Prince recently returned from a hugely successful tour of New Zealand, following previous tours on Her Majesty’s behalf to the Caribbean and the Middle East. The knighthood comes as the Prince prepares to finish his career in the Army to concentrate on public service, which will include an increased workload of royal duties after the Queen entered her 90th year.
