France: Anarchists defy state of emergency in Nantes with protest and paint-bombs

Riot police faced off with Anarchist protesters in Nantes, Saturday, who threw paint bombs at banks, and confronted law enforcement with fireworks and home-made shields in protest against the recent extension of France’s state of emergency.
A heavy police presence was in place as demonstrators marched through the town with anarchist banners and flares, vandalising several bank buildings with red paint bombs.
The state of emergency was declared by the French government following the Paris attacks in November which killed 130 people. The state of emergency, which was recently extended by a further three months, expressly bans public demonstrations.
