Officer Claims Freddie Gray Arrest Was Justified

One of the six Baltimore cops charged in the death of Freddie Gray is disputing the chief prosecutor's claim that he was "illegally" arrested because the knife he was pocketing is permitted under state law. In a motion filed Monday on behalf of Officer Edward Nero, his attorneys believe that the "spring assisted, one hand operated knife" obtained during Gray's April 12 arrest is not in fact legal — and therefore, his arrest was justified.
