SOT, protester (Turkish): "Yes, it is very crowded. The anger of women is growing, and the struggle is growing in a way. Women are murdered every day. We have seen that our friend Emine's last words were 'I don't want to die' and she was killed in front of her 10-year-old child. And we came together here to say: enough is enough because we have been in this struggle for years. We are in this struggle every day. This struggle is against the murdering of women, against violence towards women. And today is a symbolic day after the murder of our friend Emine."

SOT, protester (Turkish): "Today is not only about a recent murder. This is about a general problem for women in Turkey. Violence is everywhere all the time. In order for this to stop, some legal action should be taken. Istanbul law should come into effect, for instance. We are not 'entrusted' to anybody. We have not been entrusted to anybody but ourselves. The mentality should change. Policies of state should change. And murders of women are political. Politics should change."

Thousands of protesters held a rally against domestic violence in Istanbul's Kadikoy district on Saturday. It's the latest protest in a series of demonstrations triggered by the murder of a woman by her ex-husband in the central province of Kirkkale.
"This is about a general problem for women in Turkey. Politics should change," said one of protesters.
38-year-old Emine Bulut was fatally stabbed in front of her daughter in a cafe on August 18. A video of her murder was posted onto social media where she can be heard screaming "I don't want to die!".
Since the video was released, her last words have been used as a hashtag on Turkish social media to campaign against domestic violence.
