Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu declared three days of national mourning over the victims of the deadly Ankara bombings, as he addressed the nation in a speech in Akara, Saturday. Dismissing claims the attacks were ethnically motivated, Davutoglu said the bombings targetted Turkish "democracy as a whole" rather than being "directed against any particular political or population group." Almost 100 people have reportedly been killed after twin explosions hit Ankara on Saturday. The blasts rocked the area near Ankara Central railway station, Turkey's busiest train hub. The attack, believed to be a suicide bomber, hit the venue of the 'Labour, Peace, Democracy' rally, which was scheduled to begin at 10:00 local time (0700 GMT). The rally was planned by Turkey's biggest trade union in protest against the Turkish government's policy towards the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
