United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May said that EU citizens will not have to pay the £65 [€73] fee to secure their right to stay in the UK after Brexit, speaking in the House of Commons in London on Monday.
"Having listened to concerns from members and organisations like The 3 million Group, I can confirm today that when we roll out the scheme in full on the 30th of March, the government will wave the application fee so that there is no financial barrier for any EU nationals who wish to stay."
May also ruled out the possibility for a new EU referendum, saying that another people's consultation would require an extension of Article 50, and added that calling back people to the polls would undermine faith in democracy.
Addressing the backstop issue, the PM confirmed she is holding talks with MPs to find ways to resolve Northern Ireland's border issue.
May said that MPs will be able to table amendments to next Tuesday's vote, when they will debate on a modified Brexit deal after last week's original plan's rejection in the House of Commons.
