UK: Tensions high as EDL and counter-protesters face off in Aylesbury

13 10.10.2015 Инфо

Minor clashes broke out between members of the far-right English Defence League (EDL), the police and a group of counter-protesters in the small Buckinghamshire town of Aylesbury, Saturday. Around 300 members of the EDL marched through Aylesbury, waving England flags and holding anti-Islam placards. At one point in the protest a group of EDL members burned the flag of the Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL). The protest coincided with similar anti-Islam rallies taking place across the UK. Unite Against Fascism (UAF) organised a counter-demonstration, with hundreds of anti-fascists taking to the streets to protest against the right-wing organisation. Counter-demonstrators held banners condemning fascism and anti-Islamic rhetoric and chanted "Nazi scum off our streets."
