Dachshund named Marussia helps Moscow’s firefighters and rescuers to handle stress, as shown by footage filmed in the Russian capital on Wednesday.
The three-year-old Marussia started “working” at the Moscow Firefighting and Rescue Centre after visiting one of the stations with her owner, who then noticed how positively the employees reacted to the dog’s presence.
“Marussia appeared spontaneously. She came with one of the representatives of our press service to our training and she joined our team after it. Her visits have become regular since then,” said Yaroslav Chernogorov , head of Serebryaniy Bor fire and rescue station.
Chernogorov said that Marussia “is a freelance psychologist” since “she simply discharges the situation, because appearance of any animal gives mental relaxation to people in units, who have the same work as we do.”
The volunteer psychologist reportedly loves to spend time with the water rescue unit, especially since in the summer she can swim in the reservoirs, while in winter she likes to stay at the station and eat her favourite delicacies - dried apricots, carrots and red Bulgarian pepper.
