Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Major-General Igor Konashenkov announced from Moscow, Monday, that precision Russian airstrikes in the Damascus province have "crucially changed the operational situation in this region," adding that militants from the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) "are leaving their positions in large numbers." Konashenkov stated that after suffering from a lack of ammunition due to the airstrikes, "reconnaissance registered the retreat of several large detachments, each about 100-strong." Konashenkov also confirmed that Russian fighter jets successfully struck 49 ISIS facilities, during 33 combat sorties in Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib, Latakia and Hama Provinces. The Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson also confirmed that the strikes destroyed two command centres, three ammunition depots, two underground bunkers, 41 firing positions, nine of which were fortified and a workshop used for missiles and rockets.
