Donald Trump, US President: "Thank you very much."
US President Donald Trump said Washington would impose tariffs on the European Union if a trade deal was not reached. He made the comment at a brief press conference before a bilateral meeting with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in Washington DC on Wednesday.
"We're trying to make a deal. They're very tough to make a deal with - the EU," Trump said.
When asked about the Commerce Department's report containing the results of a probe into the impact of car imports on the national security of the country, Trump said: "We've studied it very carefully. We've seen the results. But the bottom-line result is whether or not we can make a deal with the EU that's fair."
During the press event Trump also commented on the upcoming summit with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un on February 27-28 in Hanoi, saying that he doesn't think that Pyongyang is reluctant to denuclearize. "I think they want to do something," Trump stressed.
Responding to a reporter's question on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Trump called the ex-official a "disaster." According to the president, McCabe "made a fool out of himself over the past couple of days." The statement followed the scandal over McCabe’s alleged participation in extensive discussions about using the Constitution to remove Trump from office.
