Germany: To be against TTIP is "absurd" – Fin Min Schauble

09.06.2015
German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble lamented the lack of support for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) at the Wirtschaftstag 2015 (Economic Day) event in Berlin, Tuesday. It is "absurd" that a free trade agreement between the US and the Eurozone is considered a threat Schauble said, adding he needs to "show restraint" from voicing more thoughts on this matter. The German finance minister believes that only people who "see pressure to perform" are against the trade agreement between the two superpowers. A European petition protesting against TTIP agreement has reached 2 million signatures this week, ahead of members of the European Parliament holding a final vote on TTIP on Wednesday.
