Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel told President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on Tuesday that “we have a common goal which is to combat terrorism”. "The world is suffering a crisis," Bettel said, branding "events" in Syria a "crisis that affects us all." The Luxembourgian PM went on to say his meeting with the Russian leader provided an opportunity to discuss "relations with the European Union, which are now probably experiencing hard times." Putin referred to a "decline in trade relations" between the Russia and Luxembourg, but emphasised that Luxembourg remains a "large investor in the Russian economy." This is Bettel’s first visit to Russia as Prime Minister after he arrived in Sochi on Monday to meet Putin and Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev.
