Islamic State Militants Seize Control of Ancient Syrian City of Palmyra

Islamic State militants have entered the ancient ruins of Palmyra in the Syrian province of Homs, after seizing control of a neighboring town, according to eyewitness reports.
Given the militants' history of destroying and defacing works of irreplaceable ancient art and architecture, activists and officials are concerned about what's in store for Palmyra, a 2,000 year old UNESCO World Heritage site.
